OUR FOUNDING DIRECTORS

Rabbi Danny and Esther Bahar

For over 25 years, Rabbi Danny and his wife, Esther Bahar have been conducting programs for Jewish youth of all ages. They have provided a Jewish education through classes, programs, activities and printed material. These activities are run within the framework of our Jewish heritage. This raises Jewish consciousness and positive Jewish identity. Up-to-date topics and life issues are addressed on an ongoing basis. The Bahars provide an opportunity to the Jewish youth from all walks of life to experience and participate in the Jewish Sabbath, holidays and other Jewish life cycle experiences. Successful programs of the past include: fishing, laser quest, horseback riding, Shabbatons, weekend retreats, conventions and excursions to America, dynamic speakers, sushi nights, singles events, Seudah Shlishit programs, learning Aleph-Beit programs, homework nights, Melave Malkas (Saturday night programs), movie nights, arts and crafts programs, cooking and baking and storybook reading and more all interwoven with a positive experience of Judaism and life skills.

They have either worked or volunteered for the Jewish Public Library in the Lipa Green Building, Zichron Yisrael Congregation located at the Associated Hebrew School, Bayt Avraham Yosef Congregation, Shaarei Shamayim Synagogue, B’Nai Torah Synagogue, Shiftei Yisrael Congregation, Willowdale Orthodox Jewish Congregation, Chabad at Flamingo, Westmount Shul and Learning Centre, NCSY and Chabad Lubavitch of Ontario. They have also made a sold out Shabbaton for Toronto High School Girls in New York with Project Inspire.

They are instrumental in teaching and directing teenage girls that need to integrate into the mainstream education system.

The Bahars produced a do-it-yourself guidebook on Shabbos entitled JUST ONE SHABBOS which was distributed by the Jewish Students Network throughout North America (to over 700 university students). This important project was received and shared with the students of Hillel Foundation Massachusetts in the United States, and was used by NCSY and Aish HaTorah of Richmond Hill.
